Fat child is a cute child ? Many adults may think this way, but do you know how cute the result of being obese may not be, because if you let your child continue to be obese in the long run, there will be many health problems that these children often face many health problems, both physical and mental, as they become obese and are not addressed. Obesity is more severe, has long-term adverse effects on children's health and can cause many complications, such as:
1. Respiratory system disease: Obese children are at risk of sleep apnea because fat accumulates in the muscles and tissues surrounding the upper airway, causing the airway to narrow. There is a problem of low blood oxygen levels while sleeping, affecting growth, headaches, bed-wetting, being naughty, having short attention spans, taking naps during the day, not being able to study, having low IQ, and possibly having worse heart and lung function, requiring a ventilator while sleeping.
2. Bone and joint abnormalities: Overweight of the child will put pressure on the bones and joints, especially the joints that need to bear weight. Common are the knees, hips and ankles, causing deformity, knee deformity, joint pain, and may cause the growth of abnormal bones. There are short and long sides of the legs.
3. Metabolic syndrome, which includes central obesity, diabetes or insulin resistance, which controls blood sugar levels, abnormal blood fats, and high blood pressure, which can result in an enlarged heart, heart attacks, and increase the risk of fat sticking to blood vessel walls, causing hardening of the blood vessels, leading to ischemic heart disease, or cerebral infarction, leading to paralysis.
4. Gastrointestinal system and liver. Obese children are at easy risk for gallbladder stools. There is a lot of fat accumulation in the liver, causing inflammation, liver cirrhosis, cirrhosis, and may lead to liver cancer.
5. Skin abnormalities. Obese children often have thick and dark skin in their armpits, neck, and legs. They have scars that are peeled off from scratches, are puffy, and have infections that easily infect the skin.
6. Mental health problems: Obese children are often teased by their friends. In addition to academic failure and lower intelligence, this causes problems in socializing, lack of self-confidence, feeling worthless, depression, and sometimes even wanting to commit suicide. These feelings also have a negative impact on their academic performance.
It can be seen that obese children have many health problems. Therefore, prevention should be done from the beginning to prevent childhood obesity. If it is found that they are obese, they should lose weight to prevent the above complications.
